Canva Editor
There are a lot of features stuffed into the next area, your Canva Editor, so here’s a quick overview.
We will begin by selecting a basic design and just “tour” the Canva Editor together. Getting to know where things are and how to work with the layouts and tools.
- From the Canva Homepage (main screen), click Create a Design, or select a design from the multiple new ways of searching the dashboard.
- Canva will open your design/dashboard in new tabs in your browser.
- This means your first Canva tab will be your Home/Main Dashboard and the second opened Canva tab will be the current design that you are working on. When you close the current design (tab), you can refresh the main Canva tab and see your designs saved in your dashboard.
We will talk about each of these in more detail as we go through this course.
- Templates: Thousands of templates, organized even better!
- Uploads: Upload and store your images, videos, and sounds.
- Photos: These are high quality stock photos that you can use in your designs.
- Elements: Add pieces to your designs, such as: pictures, vector images, charts, icons, and more. I have found some great things here such as “stickers”.
- Text: Add a variety of text styles and fonts.
- Audio: Search from music/sound clips to add in your designs. You can then save as a video/gif, etc.
- Videos: Search from video clips to add in your designs.
- Background: Change the background color and styles of your designs.
- Folders: Organize your designs – more in paid Canva.
- MORE: Emojis, GIF’s, and connect your social media accounts for quick access to photos/videos.
Click Each tab to see what’s available! Each tab has its own search bar, use this to search for specific content pieces within each of the tab/categories. The triangle on the right of left panel will hid the design dashboard so that you can have full view of your design. If you want to bring the dashboard back, simply click a tab name.
Click Play to watch a tutorial of the Canva Editor. Again, as we go through this course you will learn about each section!
